Sam Cook in the workshop

I was born in Brighton and grew up in rural West Sussex, where, at the age of 7 years, I was first exposed to woodwork and woodturning. Until the 1970’s, when I was loaned a small cast iron Victorian lathe, this seminal influence had remained largely unexpressed. Then, after a career in the Royal Navy and the Probation Service, woodturning became a full time occupation.

My Kitchen Woods range is now well established: I’ve continued to develop my interest in Decorative Woods where the journey the timber has travelled remains apparent. All my work is made from sustainable British hardwoods.
The final organic and natural form may sometimes be enhanced by the application of colour, texture and hand forged ironwork.

My work is well known, particularly in East Anglia and South London and is supplied to shops, galleries, restaurants, caterers and interior designers. Work is often completed to commission.
